Periodontal Disease

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal Disease

Periodontitis, also generally called gum disease or periodontal disease, begins with bacterial growth in your mouth and may result in tooth loss if not properly treated and causes destruction of the tissue that surrounds your teeth.

When To Seek Treatment?

When you see a bit of blood in your sink when you brush your teeth. That bleeding can be one of the first warning signs that you’ve got gum disease. The mild variety is called gingivitis. When you have that, only your gums are infected. If you don’t treat it, the infection can travel below your gum line and into your bone. Then it becomes a more serious form of gum disease called periodontitis. Both gingivitis and periodontitis have been shown to raise your risk of things like diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, pneumonia, and cancer. Early detection is your best bet.

Crowns & Bridges

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal Disease

Crown is a tooth-shaped cap, that is placed over a tooth to cover it, and restore its shape.

When To Seek Treatment?

You need a crown to restore the tooth that is severely worn, or not much has remained. Crown is also used to cover dental implants. If your teeth are heavily filled, they may be at risk of fractures or de-bonding of fillings. Frequent replacement of fillings can lead to loss of precious tooth structure. Repeated dental treatment on the same tooth may lead to deepening of the filling and subsequent nerve inflammation. To avoid these complications, you may need a crown before the filling becomes too large and remaining tooth structure is too short to support a crown.
